Q: Need assistance with drivers on Dell Vostro 3550 I am installing Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on a new hard disk drive on a Dell Vostro 3550 laptop.
I found this thread which is similar to my problem, but I am still confused about the driver installation.
When I use the service tag to bring up the drivers available for download, there are no chipset drivers included.
Intel Management Engine Interface Driver 4.
I have no network connectivity.
The Graphics driver did install and correct the video resolution as expected.
I have been reading that I first need to install chipset drivers, so I have the following questions: Which of the four drivers should I install?
Do I need to uninstall the Centrino Wireless-N driver before?
How can I resolve the other issues in device manager that do not seem to have corresponding drivers?
It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link.
A: Need assistance with drivers on Dell Vostro 3550 Hi Welcome to Seven Forums.
Run Windows Updates and then Post back any missing Drivers.
Q: I have a Dell Vostro 3550 64 bit that had been wiped clean.
I am using Win7 Pro.
I went to Dell's support sight and search for drivers by the service tag.
Ive done this many times before with different computers but for some reason this one is messing with me.
First I tried Dell Wireless 1701 802.
Then I tried Intel Centrino Wireless-N 10001030, Advanced-N 6230 Driver R312222 but was still unsuccessful.
I could not find any additional wifi drivers that sounded right.
Instead of dropping driver fingerprint dell vostro 3550 laptop out the 6th story window followed by myself, I was hoping someone familiar with the 3550 could list the basic drivers in the correct order, enough for to get me started.
I cant even tell what video adapter was shipped with it from the System Configuration sheet.
Dell has many extraneous drivers that are not really necessary, I just want basic everyday fun.
A:Assistance with Driver installation for Dell Vostro 3550 Hi.
Nothing will work proper until you get the Chipset Driver Installed.
I am using Win7 Pro 64 bit.
I went to Dell's support sight and search for drivers by the service tag.
I have done this many times before with different computers but for some reason this one is messing with me.
I have tried downloading my wifi driver fro dell site and from intel site but neither one works and it still shows no wireless device.
I have attached an msinfo32 zipped file for your perusal, kindly if you can help me install wifi driver and other drivers like hard disk free fall sensor and finger print as well.
The Dell Vostro 3550 is not on the list of about 20 Vostro models, some with lower model numberssome higher.
Will they ever test it??
If you try to upgrade, windows 10 copies files and then in the 2nd of the three major sections of the upgrade where you have that big circle in the middle of the screen it just goes to a blank screen and then all disk activity ceases and it becomes well hung.
Of course now, the machine thinks its os is win 10 and you cannot go back to a win 7 recover point.
So you just lose all your data and apps and restore the factory image and then install 208 windows 7 updates and it takes like 8 hours in all.
Sounds like a similar problem that people had with Vostros going from win 7 to win 8.
A:Windows 10 Upgrade - why isnt Dell Vostro 3550 on the list from Dell?
Hopefully this might save someone a wasted day in their lives.
Before this I spent some hours before figuring out driver fingerprint dell vostro 3550 the machine was in fact booting - only the display was black.
So then it was a matter of figuring out key strokes to use blind to shut down and also enable the menu for safe mode.
Clive Q: Hi guys, My niece asked me to help her with her Dell laptop.
A:Dell vostro 3550 booting problem Hi, try to boot into SafeMode and remove the Nvidia driver - leave the Microsoft Basic adapter.
Then boot into Windows and install the latest drivers provided from Nvidia.
Good luck,werty Q: Hello, I have a Dell Vostro 3550 with Windows 10.
To power up the laptop I need to press two times the power button.
The first time I press it, it tries to boot but after a few seconds it powers dows.
Then, I'll have to press the power button again, and this time it will boot up normally.
I'm wondering if this is a known issue and do you have any ideas?
Thanks, Francisco Q: I know this isn't actually a graphics card issue, but most people who have an n5110 and could only either disable the display adapter or hook up an external monitor thought it was a graphics card problem, so I have posted it here this is the category I've been lurking in.
It has been many months of frustration and waiting and now it seems like we will finally be able to use out laptops at full resolution.
I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but according to others it has.
Q: So I posted in another thread but I think the thread died anyways I own a Dell Vostro 3550 64 bit which was missing drivers once I reinstalled Windows 7.
Thanks to another thread I was able to find the necessary drivers, which by the way were only possible to download through Safe mode with the exception of the network controller, however I couldn't download the Fingerprint scanner driver.
It said that windows installer does not work on safe mode and to use regular mode, but when i did it on regular mode it would download and unzip but wouldn't install like nothing happened after the filez unzipped.
However now I have a blue screen problem so I can't eve go back to regular mode.
Thanks in advance, Connor Q: Hey I just replaced my not working motherboard and power supply card with new ones.

Thanks in advance A:Black screen problem - new motherboard - Dell Vostro 3550 It's probably an Activation Problem.
If it's a new Motherboard, it's new Hardware, even if it is the exact motherboard you replaced.
If you can pull up Task Manager from the black screen If you have a mouse but nothing else - Then you can stick your install disk into the Optical Drive and run Setup.
Run an In-Place Install which means just choose 'Upgrade' from the choice of either upgrade or fresh install.
I've had to do this twice.

There is an issue with a bunch of dell laptops Vostro 3550, Inspiron n5110 included where the laptop display is not detected.
All of the new drivers and drivers on this site do not fix the problem.
There are a couple of workarounds that you do in the meantime though.
Then you can at least use the laptop only with the external monitor though.
Screen shuts off after boot animation - Microsoft Answers this will only allow a low resolution and no graphic acceleration.
Q: My company has a Vostro 3550 that was functioning perfectly until yesterday.
Since then, the Vostro 3550 won't power up at all.
No lights illuminate on the laptop itself when plugged in.
It was working perfectly yesterday.
Q: I downloaded and installed Windows 8 on my Vostro 3550 laptop dual booting with the original Win7 Pro x64.
It would get as far as 'Installing Devices' and then the screen would go off.
Someone suggested using an external monitor and checking.
Once I installed the monitor, I found that the Win 8 installed correctly, but failed to recognise the internal display.
Everything works fine in Win8, except it does not recognise the internal display.
So I installed the Win7 video drivers from Dell, still no change.
Then Win8 update said there are new Intel video drivers which it installed, with no improvement.
Works with external monitor, but does not detect internal monitor.
I am not sure wether it is video driver issue or something to do with chipset drivers.
Can someone help me with this issue.

Reinstalled win7 pro 64bit on a dell vostro 320 using the dell os disk.
Put the dell drivers disc in to find it only contained something to do with powersaving.
Tried to connect to internet but Windows Network Diagnostics could not find network adapter drivers.
Could someone advise which basic drivers I require to connect to the net so that I can get the dell site to update the remaining drivers.
Device manager says I need the Ethernet driver but I can't find that on the Dell site.
How can I tell which software is required or what I have in my pc?
All I have is the pc and the two dell discs.
I hope u have a link for me for the drivers.
Have you tried here for drivers?
Q: I recently helped my brother format his hard drive on his Dell Vostro A860 running Vista, and we then installed a fresh copy of vista.
The problem is that I keep getting a Code 10 on many drivers and I tried the drivers on the support site.
The laptop just says they are up to date, but it still won't start any of them.
There is no networking, and possibly no sound.
A:Dell Vostro A860's drivers not working.

Louis Q: Here I am giving you the list of drivers missing in my laptop.
Q: Because of a virus, I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
I have gotten everything else working except the fingerprint reader.
I have installed the Validity Fingerprint Reader driver from the Dell Support site.
The fingerprint reader shows up in the Device Manager.
However, the Biometric Devices applet doesn't appear in the Control Panel.
I tried letting Windows update detect the fingerprint reader.
It installed a driver for a Synaptics device.
This was enough to get the Biometric Devices applet to appear in the Control Panel.
However, when I tried to configure the fingerprint reader, I got an error saying no fingerprint management software was installed.
I have seen lots of posts online directing me to validityinc.
The DigitalPersona software is available on the Dell Support site for my service tag.
I have even tried installing the Windows 8 Validity Sensor Driver for my laptop, but though it successfully installs, it produces the same results.
I don't know what else to do.
A:Vostro 3550 Fingerprint Reader - Biometric Devices Applet Not In Control Panel - Windows 7 Hi, Thanks for the post!
The fingerprint reader software that came with your system should be available from the My Dell Downloads content pages.

Q: Hi, Hoping someone can enlighten me.
I have a customer with a latitude 3550 and D3100 Dock.
He needed to rebuild his laptop with Windows 7 pro 64-bit which i have done with the latest drivers on Dell Website.
He has 2 monitors 1 x proline, 1 x samsung connected to the D3100 and displays them in extended mode, including the laptop onboard dispay.
Since the rebuild the 2 x monitors on the D3100 refuse to display.
I have reinstalled the Docking station with newer drivers but have had no luck.
So I ordered the replacement part from Dell for the 8600 and they shipped me a refurbished unit.
The surgery to put in the new card took all night for hack like to do.
I did not look carefully at the refurbished unit they shipped me as I was nervous handling the card that I might break it.
After the computer booted up I uninstalled the 8400 driver and then installed the 8600 driver.
So now when I right click on computers, properties device manager it shows the video as still the 8400 card.
Or when I go to the Device Manager, does the computer physically c.

Q: Hello, I was wondering if anyone would be so kind to assist with a problem that suddenly started with my second computer Dell Vostro 400 Its running windows 7 home premium and all the sudden it now stops at the Dell bios version screen.
It did this a couple times the lastfew days, but when I restarted it, it booted ok, but when I checked on it later then the computer was frozen again with a black screen.
I have borrowed another computer from work and swapped out the hard drive, and it works fine with the other computer same hardware.
So I dont think its the hard drive.

So I'm planning to buy proper card, but my tower is waaay to slim to fit in it comfortably.
So my question is, will I be able to take my motherboard to another, non-Dell case?
If so, what type of case would be good?
I did try to find online, what type of motherboard it is, but if there's an answer to that question, I can't find or understand it.
I used another dvd from a vostro 230 and same results.
Does the Dell system restore dvd boot?
If not how do I restore the system if so what am I doing wrong?
Which one should I trust?
Q: Hi Guys, We installed a couple of new Dell Vostro 460 machines about a month ago.
I have recently noticed random BoD on certain machines.
All machines have the exact same hardware, software, and setup.
We have collected the required Debugging data as per your guide.
Upgrade bios from a04 to a06 - still the same tried dvd rom driver - couldnt find drive 6.
If you're out of warranty, it may be time to start looking for another drive.
We have a batch of Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower.
Viewing from where the power plug in, we can see that a lot of capacitor seems to have leak to the coil.
I'm very surprised that these computers are still working.
I'm wondering if it is normal.
Hopefully, someone can shed some light.
Q: I got a Dell Vostro 1700 today from a buddy he sold cheap cause he did not want to put the effort into find the password that nobody seems to know.
Screens that says will type whole Screen Dell Inc.
You cannot access the data on this computer without the correct password.
Please type in the system or administrator password and press.
That is where im stuck.

Unless there is an option in the bios to increase the amount of system ram allocated to graphics, there is nothing to do.

All the above is meaningless until we know how you intend to use it.
Are you buying this from Best Buy?
Why not buy direct from Dell?
Q: Hello all, My friend has Vista Basic 32 bit.
She has a Dell Vostro 400.
Well since she added the E machine Monitor she has had to always push F1 to get it to go in start up mode.
Well now she says, she has to continually push F1 until it goes into startup mode.
So we are not sure what is going on.
It says there is an extra graphic's download or something like that.
How do we fix this issue?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
I doubt anyone here will know what you are talking about from your first post hence why you got no replies in a weekso, additional clearer information will be needed.
What is 'start up mode'?
Why does she have to push F1, what happens if she doesn't push F1?
What 'says there is an extra graphic's download or something like that' Do you mean that when you get into windows it tries to install some sort of graphics driver for a new graphics device or something?
Are you able to get into windows?
Q: double finger scrolling is not working in my touchpad.
I have a Dell Vostro 400 that will turn on, but will not boot up Windows Vista.
I've tried to change the boot order but to no avail.
Could this be a hard drive failure?
This attachment is the standard dump, I'll get another full dump after this reboot and post it too.
Q: I have a dell Vostro and my battery died on me.
On the battery it says 'Capacity 56Wh'.
I found some batteries at batteries.
Can some one tell what the difference between these 2 ratings are.
Also there is a battery there that says '6600mAh'.
Doest this mean it would last longer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage.
It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
You can download it direct from this link.
This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.

Just backup your data first.
The guide you are following is overkill to the max, way to much information and steps.
No matter what you do, please backup your data first.
Even better would be to make an image backup to an external hard drive so if anything goes wrong you have a easy way to recover.
Is the copy of Windows 7 a upgrade or full version?
I think that's pretty expensive.

I would also like to know, if I don't upgrade the processor, but instead get a new motherboard, can I get any motherboard, and plug it in, and will it come with a new processor, or will it have to fit my current processor?
Would I need to get a new power supply if I upgraded the motherboard or processor?

I used another dvd from a vostro 230 and same results.
Does the Dell system restore dvd boot?
If not how do I restore the system if so what am I doing wrong?
Q: Hi, Hoping someone can enlighten me.
I have a customer with a latitude 3550 and D3100 Dock.
He needed to rebuild his laptop with Windows 7 pro 64-bit which i have done with the latest drivers on Dell Website.
He has 2 monitors 1 x proline, 1 x samsung connected to the D3100 and displays them in extended mode, including the laptop onboard dispay.
Since the rebuild the 2 x monitors on the D3100 refuse to display.
I have reinstalled the Docking station with newer drivers but have had no luck.
Q: I'm not able to download windows service pack 2 and I'm not to sure why!
Not only that but for service pack 1 the files are huge which I don't think is right.
The rest is all through Windows Updates.

Q: Hi, I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro on my Dell Vostro 1400 laptop.
Everything works fine except I can't hear any audio from my speakers.
When I plug in the earphones then audio works fine.
I previously had Windows 8.
I tried uninstalling the current drivers, then reinstalling them but that didnt work.
I think if I could get the Sigmatel audio drivers installed then my audio would be back but I wasn't able to fix this error.
If anyone has any ideas how to fix this I would really appreciate it!
Thanks, Tim A:No Audio Dell Vostro 1400 - Windows 10.
Sorry for late reply - must have overlooked your post.
Win10 is supposed to work with Win7 and 8.
Try the Vista version, Sigmatel R171786.
Download the driver package and extract the files unzip or unpack and make a note of the name of the folder that is created but cancel the installation process.
Find the compatibility tab and select Vista.
If still no luck then I would advise you to revert to Win8.
Q: I am thinking of buying Dell Vostro 3546 with linux installed from Amazon.
Reason, cheaper price than those which have windows and dos installed.
I need windows 7 for my work.
Is it possible to format Linux and install windows 7 on Dell Vostro 3546?

Should be no problem at all.

Q: Hi, I bought a new Dell Vostro 3900 with Windows 8.
I tried to update to windows 10 but the software crashed my pc.
I managed to boot up in windows 8.
I cant see one on the pc case and never had an email or any paper work with a product key on it.
Thanks in advance, Stuart Q: Hi Friends, I am new to this site.
Looking for a solution for a problem I am trying to solve for last two days.
I bought a Dell Vostro 3445 laptop a week back which had linux installed.
My wife wanted to use this for her office work and needed Windows 7 to be installed.
I installed windows 7 Ultimate on that laptop and it is now not accepting some of the drivers.
I am not able to use wi-fi as the wifi driver is not available on the dell driver site.
I call the Dell tech support.
The agent tried all sorts of things but still no use.
He said that Dell has not released the drivers for this laptop yet.
Please let me know what information you require got find any solutions for me.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
T A:Dell Vostro 3445 - Windows 7 Compatibility hi, is this a vostro 14 3445?
The driver worked with Windows 8.
Try every method and still no luck.
At first when I upgraded from windows 8.
I think we must wait for further update.
But When I plug in the adapter, it just a few seconds to charge and back to not charging anymore.
I try to switch with other batterie and adapter from my friend with same version of my laptop, but still it wont charge.
When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay in firm or does it fall off easily?
Is there any charge on the battery available?
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics.
Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Q: Hello guys, Please help me.
Wifi goes off frequently, need to restartupdated drivers.
Hi Welcome to Seven Forums.
Which Drivers have you updated?.
Where did you update the Drivers from?
Have you updated the Chipset Driver?
Next, I loaded all the necessary drivers from the Dell web site network, sound, etc.
Next, after all the dust settled, I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and tried re-installing the Dell drivers again.
Well, everything works great, except there is no sound.
I've followed the instructions to give you the info you need from here.
Video Card: Intel Mobile 965 Express Chipset Family Hope you can help me with this issue, please!

A:Dell Vostro 400 running windows xp shuts off randomly You shouldn't double post threads.
Dell Support recommends to install the Vista 32 bit video driver.
The driver version is this one: v 7.
I installed it anyway, but my system won't even start I had to restore it.
Please help me with any kind of solution or sugestion.
That's not allowed on this user to user forum.
You can never use a 32 bit driver with 64 bit windows.
You can only use the 32 bit driver with 32 bit windows 7-and sometimes that doesn't even work.
Did you allow Windows 7 to find a compatible driver?
Is the video card working now?
If it works with win 7, don't change the driver.
You should have installed the 32 bit Win 7 for compatibility.
Q: Hey all, So my girlfriends laptop is rather incompetent and decides to not open up any recently installed programs.
All older programs that were on the computer work fine.
How can I fix this problem of the programs?
Those networks can be seen connected in other devices though.
The diagnostic setup has to be run on the laptop to get things back to normal.
This is a frequent problem being faced by me.
It arises any time and there is no fixed duration.
The problem can re-arise just 2 minutes after the things have been sorted using diagnostic setup or it might not come for hours altogether.
Since few weeks ago, suddenly, touch pad stopped working.
Last week, I discovered that on battery mode the touch pad is working fine.
I did not see this from the beginning since the laptop is used only during evenings and was always on power.
So, finally, my problem appears only if the laptop is connected to the power supply.
Again, an external mouse is working on both cases.
I just want to ask you if you detected this problem before and if you discover any solution: change the driver, adjust the power settings.?
Is very strange that on battery mode is ok everything.
A:Touch pad malfunction in Windows 7 Ultimate for Dell Vostro A860 Hi Welcome to Seven Forums.
You have a very unusual problem there.
In a way you are lucky cause at least it works on Battery which is handy if you need to take the Laptop out with you.
Now you could try another Driver.
May help or not the question is do you want to mess with things or happy enough the way things are.

Instead of dropping the laptop out the 6th story window followed by myself, I was hoping someone familiar with the 3550 could list the basic drivers in the correct order, enough for to get me started.
Before this I spent some hours before figuring out that the machine was in fact booting - only the display was black.
So then it was a matter of figuring out key strokes to use blind to shut down and also enable the menu for safe mode.

I'm wondering if this is driver fingerprint dell vostro 3550 known issue and do you have any ideas?
Thanks to another thread I was able to find the necessary drivers, which by the way were only possible to download through Safe mode with the exception of the network controller, however Driver fingerprint dell vostro 3550 couldn't download the Fingerprint scanner driver.
Now the windows seems to boot but just when the start screen is about to show up, the screen go black.
I know it's up because when i slide my finger in the biological sensot it would make the sound of a successful login.

So my question is, will I be able to take my motherboard to another, non-Dell case?
If so, what type of case would be good?
I did try to find online, what type of motherboard it is, but if there's an answer to that question, I can't find or understand it.
I used another dvd from a vostro 230 and same results.

If not how do I restore the system if so what am I doing wrong?

I have recently noticed random BoD on certain machines.
All machines have the exact same hardware, software, and setup.
We have collected the required Debugging data as per your guide.

If you're out of warranty, it may be time to start looking for another drive.

Viewing from where the power plug in, we can see that a lot of capacitor seems to have leak to the coil.
I'm very surprised that these computers are still working.
I'm wondering if it is normal.
Hopefully, someone can shed some light.

Q: I have a dell Vostro and my battery died on me.
On the battery it says 'Capacity 56Wh'.
I found some batteries at batteries.

Also there is a battery there that says '6600mAh'.
Doest this mean it would last longer?
